Usage & fair-use limits
Every ALOS plan includes generous monthly limits on the AI features, counted per student, each month. They're sized to comfortably cover normal use, and ALOS gives you a friendly heads-up well before you reach one — so you're never surprised by a silent wall.
What's included each month
These are the monthly allowances for each student on your plan:
| What ALOS generates | Included per student / month |
|---|---|
| Weekly plans | 12 |
| Activities | 120 |
| Assessment & progress-report drafts | 6 |
| AI learning-project drafts | 4 |
| AI evidence summaries | 60 |
| PDF exports | 60 |
The PDF-export allowance is shared across every kind of export — assessments, learning projects, status reports, portfolios, the combined documents, and printable worksheets all draw from the same 60.
A learning-project draft is counted each time ALOS writes or rewrites the draft for you — starting from a blank project and writing it yourself is never counted. The learning project is an annual document, so 4 a month comfortably covers the first draft plus several rewrites.
How the heads-up works
The limits keep the service fast and fair for everyone; they're not meant to interrupt your teaching. As you use each feature, ALOS keeps you informed:
- On pace. If your rhythm early in the month looks likely to reach a limit before it resets, you may see a light, informational note — worded as a possibility, never a certainty. Nothing is blocked.
- Approaching (around 80%). As you get close, an amber note names the count and the limit — for example, "You've used 10 of 12 weekly plans this month." You can keep generating; it's a heads-up, not a stop.
- Beyond the allowance. There's a little headroom past the number, so a stray extra generation won't cut you off. Only when usage runs well past normal use does ALOS pause new generation of that one item — and it always tells you clearly, with how long until the count resets.
Whatever happens with the limits, everything you've already created — plans, activities, portfolios, reports, evidence — stays fully available. Limits only ever affect generating new AI content.
When limits reset
Each counter resets at the start of every month, counted in UTC. The notes show this as a relative countdown — "resets in 3 days", "resets in 5 hours" — rather than a fixed date, so it reads correctly wherever you are.
Counted separately, per student
Each limit is its own counter, per student: reaching the PDF-export allowance for one child doesn't affect plan generation, or any other child. One thing worth knowing — preparing a printable worksheet (the AI step) is free; only the final PDF export draws from the export allowance.
Limits scale with the number of students on the account, and they follow the student: each allowance is counted on the account that holds the student's file, whichever plan that account is on.
